Can
any dog come to day care? Please
keep in mind that the doggie daycare environment is quite simply not
for all dogs. Just like people, dogs all have distinct
personalities, and some personalities and temperaments are better
suited than others to the “pack” life in daycare. K-9 Child
reserves the right to refuse any dog.
What
should I expect on the first day? We ask that you bring your dog as early as
possible on the first several visits so that he/she is one of the
first ones there and can “greet” the other dogs as they arrive. This makes the
process much easier and less intimidating for them than being
introduced to a group of dogs that are already established. For some
dogs it takes a few visits for them to feel comfortable. While
others jump right in, like they have always come to daycare.
Is your facility state licensed to allow boarding and daycare? Yes. We have met all requirements to be state licensed and keep our certification in plain view of clients. There is no certification to allow boarding dogs play with daycare dogs. If a business is licensed as a daycare and boarding facility, your dogs can play together.
We
do recommend flea protection. We do recommend a flea program for your dog
(such as Frontline, etc.) some do not kill the fleas. Flea and
heartworm preventatives are encouraged but not required. Please talk
to your dogs’ vet about what is right for your dog.
Sore
pads: Running and
playing may be a little rough on your K-9 kid’s feet, and they may
get sore and abraded pads. This will go away as their pads get
thicker and use to running on different surfaces.
Sore
Muscles: Your K-9 kid
will be having so much fun playing, that they may forget to pace
themselves and have a few sore muscles. This will fade as you see
them get stronger and more in shape.
Exhausted: The new social
interaction your K-9 kid will encounter while being at daycare, will
be both physically and mentally exhausting, till they become
accustomed to daycare.
Enthusiasm: Your
dog’s enthusiasm to come to daycare will grow; you will soon find
they will know which days they get to come to daycare.
Wet
Coat: Your dogs coat
maybe wet when you pick them up during the summer- on hot summer
days they may have been lounging in the pools. Not to worry, the
water is changed frequently to keep them clean and healthy. We will
try to have them out of the pool in plenty of time and towel dried
as much as possible, and ready, for when you pick them up.
Their
tail will be wagging & you may even see a smile on their face.
It’s just their way of saying;
